I looked down
     and saw her standing there;
          Radiant.
          Beautiful.
     In that moment, she was full of my glory.
I couldn’t help but stare, I was enraptured.
     She was singing;
          A simple melody,
          such a sweet sound.
     Pleasing to my ears and reaching deep in my soul.
I eventually realized,
     others could hear it too.
          Compelled to stop,
          hanging on to every word.
     Sharing in her presence.

I looked over
     and noticed as she came around the corner;
          With a bounce in her step,
          yet still uneasy…
     Soaking up the high while it lasts.
My gaze followed her across the street.
     Her desire for attention was obvious;
          Her body available,
          open to anyone.
     Hoping to entice someones interest.
I could hear the silent scream,
     desperate for something to fill the void.
          Given up on love.
          Not worth anything.
     And in that moment my heart broke.

Everything was so clear,
     sitting on the doorstep of heaven.
          My ears attentive,
          eyes wide open.
     Soaking in the moments below.
My heart so full of delight
     and pride at her song of gratitude.
          Such a tender heart,
          lifted up to stars.
     A daughter of the Most High.
Yet the pain I could feel
     in the other weighed heavy.
          The desire to be known,
          fading hope of being loved.
     If only you knew my daughter, you too are beloved.
